PROJECT IN PROGRESS
A custom wooden wine-box program developed for Castello di Amorosa in Napa Valley, with coordinated formats for one, two, three, and six bottles. The project is currently in production, and this case study will be updated as manufacturing, quality control, delivery, and finished presentation progress.
PROJECT BRIEF
The goal was to develop a family of branded wooden packages that could accommodate several bottle configurations while maintaining a consistent presentation across the program.
SCOPE AT A GLANCE
Client: Castello di Amorosa
Location: Napa Valley, California
Formats: One-, two-, three-, and six-bottle boxes
Structures: Sliding-lid boxes and a hinged-lid crate
Materials: Pine and birch plywood
Branding: Hot-branded winery artwork
Current stage: Component machining, branding, and box-body assembly
DESIGN AND PRODUCTION CONSIDERATIONS
Each format was developed as part of one coordinated program. The design work considered bottle separation, internal dividers, lid operation, handling, construction, surface preparation, and consistent placement of the winery’s branding.
The one-, two-, and three-bottle formats use sliding lids, with dividers added where required. The six-bottle format uses a hinged lid, internal dividers, and recessed handholds for practical handling.
EARLIER PRODUCTION — COMPONENTS AND BRANDING
The first production photographs document wooden components being machined, organized by format, and prepared for the approved hot-branded artwork. They record the earlier component-preparation stage. The September progress update below follows the work into further machining and box-body assembly.
SEPTEMBER 2026 — FACTORY PROGRESS
Component details and box-body assembly
The latest factory photographs add a closer view of the work behind the finished packaging: grooved wooden components, recessed handholds, branded panels, and assembled box bodies stacked in the production area.
The handhold detail is a recess cut into the wood rather than a through-opening. The remaining wood beneath the recess is visible in the component photograph. Other views show the winery’s script and crest across panels and box bodies.
These materials document work in progress, not final quality approval or readiness to ship. Quality review, packing, freight, delivery, and the finished presentation will be added to this same case study as those stages are confirmed.
Production and freight outlook: Production is still underway, with completion and pickup currently targeted for late September 2026. Fumigation is planned after production, and freight arrangements are already being coordinated. These are planned milestones, not confirmation that the boxes are ready to ship.
